May is one of the most perfect months for traveling, especially in the northern hemisphere. The weather is perfect, just warming up and destinations are not so crowded.

In Western Australia May represents the beginning of the dry season. That means no rain, just a clear blue sky with long days of sunshine. May also marks the return of the whale sharks in Ningaloo Reef. People are celebrating their return with amazing parties, live music and a parade. You can see these incredible gentle marine giants as they bask over the reef if you join one of the organized tours. In the south, the Moondyne Festival celebrates the life of Moondyne Joe –a festival that personally, I would love to have the opportunity to see.  Joe is known for his ability to slip out of his prison cell. The festival takes place each year in the first Sunday of May and you’ll witness reenactments of Joe and his gang running around robbing every building on their way.

Before things start getting busy, May is the perfect time to visit Tuscany. It’s not too warm, not too cold, perfect weather to enjoy all the festivals. The region host a series of whimsical festivals, that’s for sure. As for the countryside, I’m sure you’ve seen movies with the amazing bright green fields, the blooming flowers giving the hills all sorts of amazing colors, right? They are so beautiful you might think they are not real. But they are, we assure you. The month starts with a national holiday, Labor Day and the Italians have the day off so it might get a little crowded. But as I’m sure you know, they know how to celebrate. It’s going to be an amazing trip.

One of our favorite cities in Europe, Prague, is at its peak in May.  It truly dazzles with the gardens and parks, hanging baskets are full of flowers and beautiful colors and the Spring Music Festival is getting ready to amaze its tourists. Three weeks of symphony, operas and all sorts of concerts will make this trip a one you will never forget. The lilac and chestnut trees are just blooming so the whole city will smell incredible. You know what? Prague is like a different city each season. We recommend you visit it in the spring, summer, fall and winter.

If you are looking to spend the spring vacation on a beach, Bahamas or Greece are the perfect destinations. The weather is perfect, water is warm and there is no chance of a hurricane. Humidity is also very low and the sun will gently touch you with its perfect spring rays. As for Greece, head to the north of the coast, you will avoid the rain and you’ll experience some of Greece’s rich culture in the old and amazing town like Chania or the Arkadi Monastery.

Last, but definitely not least, Machu Picchu in Peru. The rain will end until May, the valleys will still be green, just waiting for you to capture their splendor with your camera. If you want to visit the Lost City of the Incas I must warn you. You will need to plan ahead, only 500 people, including the staff, are allowed on the trail per day. You will need to get permits and the necessary paperwork but it will be worth your wild, trust me.
