Incredible hot, lights wherever your eyes turn to, expensive cars, fancy casino hotels. And this is how it looks on the outside, because the truth is that Las Vegas lives inside. The real city is behind close doors. Air conditioner in every corner, slot machines, roulette and private rooms for poker, cabaret and all kind of shows, women and men dressed like Hollywood stars hoping to hit the big jackpot! The Entertainment Capital of the World! I don’t know exactly how they do it, but Americans can create so easily a symbol and this is something wonderful; this is something that everybody should appreciate. Have I told you what my intentions are? When I first thought about this blog, for which I would like to thank to some people, I already knew how I would like it to look like! I was thinking: let’s take a look on the bright side! I will write about beautiful experiences, I will talk about the people, of their history, I will tell you how I saw or felt things but all of it in a nice, positive manner. We had a short visit to Las Vegas to see David’s Copperfield show, play some roulette, see and enjoy the city.
The people were nice to us from the moment we arrived. They gave us such a nice room with view all over Vegas! We chose MGM Grand, not only because it is one of the best hotels in the area but for the shows also and the price was decent too. I just read that they have Eagles, Aerosmith and even Lady Gaga this year. The only thing that I couldn’t get use to was the temperature, too hot outside and really cold inside. Putting this two behind I will tell you that we had so much fun! I even won some money gambling, 25 dollars! When I knew we would be in Vegas, I thought to myself “Wow! I will play roulette! It will be like in the movies and of course I’ll win”. Of course it did happened but not exactly like I predicted. We saw a free table and hurried in that direction. A men and a nice lady welcomed us and asked how much do we want to bet. I cannot remember the amount but not much. We started to play but the game was already over! Lost it! And we did the same with other games but like I said, it was fun.
I mentioned David Copperfield who did quite a show. He is a great illusionist and he succeeded to impress the public, including us! I was so confused at the end that I ran after a girl who was called on the stage for a number and asked her how did he do it? I mean, really, how? Of course she didn’t wanted to reveal the secret! This guy disserves all the applause, I saw him on TV when I was little and now, after I saw his show I appreciate him even more. If we read the numbers he has won 21 Emmy Awards, sold 40 million tickets in 30 years of career, won 11 Guinness World Records and the numbers or the awards do not stop here. Living Legend Award, how does this sound to you?
Las Vegas is an attraction even if you don’t prefer gambling, it is nice even if you sit on a table and watch peoples faces when they play, win or loose. It’s fun to see for yourself the city where so many movies were filmed, Viva Las Vegas or Ocean’s Eleven and so on, or Rain Man. Another idea about Vegas is that every hotel casino has a theme, like Venice for example and reproduces the real town. Until writing about this I had no clue that there are so many casinos that never opened. Somebody came with the idea and the theme and in some cases the announcement were made but they never actually started to work on it, but sometimes they even started to make the foundation. And when you go to Vegas, feel free to do anything you want, but don’t forget one thing we didn’t do! Go see the Grand Canyon National Park; it is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World! Everything is interesting about the Grand Canyon and I promise I will go and see it soon.
Come and see other places I’ve been to and enjoy the stories. I will continue my traveling and I hope you will continue reading about them.
