The best summer holiday you can ever imagine is the one when you go sail those amazing turquoise waters, drop the anchor near small green islands and swim with the most beautiful colored fish you have ever seen. And the scenario I am now talking about is not one taken from a movie, it is real and it can happen to you whenever you decide to take a vacation on a boat.
Assuming decision taken by now, I will describe some of the best sailing destinations on Earth.
Croatia, the country of thousand islands
I am pretty sure that when God created Croatia, He took into consideration that it would one day become the most proper place to open the sails. I am not even joking; just imagine all those small green beautiful islands, surrounded by crystal clear waters. Someone actually counted them and they have 1221 islands, islets and rocks. Sometimes, if you get lucky, your boat may actually be the only one located in that splendid bay and you can enjoy everything like it was made especially for you. Besides some amazing landscapes, Croatia is a plus when you take into consideration the entire infrastructure needed for sailing. A boat always needs some water and electricity, so it is important to know that you will find small or some big marinas where you have everything needed. So, I would say that sailing in Croatia is rather easy from many points of you. And why not admit that when going on holiday you want everything to run smoothly.
British Virgin Islands
When I say British Virgin Islands you can easily understand some piece of Heaven on Earth. Taking a vacation there without at least 2 days of sailing, it just doesn’t sound right. Nature with everything it has is just astonishing. The colors I’ve seen in BVI, I probably haven’t seen them in some other place. There are not so many marinas like in Croatia but it will not affect you that much. The whole organizing of the trip is done differently so that you will have nothing to worry about.
Thailand
Now, if it comes to some adventurous sailing you should definitely take into consideration the Andaman Sea. Of course Thailand was much more interesting, maybe more than 10 years ago, when there were not so many tourists, but it’s still a place of unspoiled nature. Depending on which geographical area you choose, there are some nice things to be seen. On the boat you need to be more careful with water and electricity and maybe some other provisioning because distances between islands are a bit different than in the first two places I mentioned. Some other important detail to be taken into consideration is that in case you decide to buy fish or seafood on the sea, there are some chances they will not be the best choice.
Greece
Greece is this beautiful country coming from ancient times and even with the events that take place right now, it is still going to be one of the most important touristic destinations in the world. We talk about a country with so many islands so that sailing becomes implicitly. Like in Croatia, the food is at its best and all those caves and stones, each one of them with famous legends will offer you a nice vacation time. There will also not be a hard task for your skipper to find a marina or some beautiful bays for anchoring. Add Greece to your sailing destination too.
Caribbean
Last, but not least are some other geographical areas of the Caribbean Islands. If you take as a starting point the French and Dutch Islands, let’s say Saint Martin, you will have some great opportunities to see a nice part of the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. When sailing the Ocean you just need to know that it might be more unpredictable so your sailing routes might be changed often because of the weather. Of course it can happen sometimes on the Sea too.
